This tour features a beach with the most inviting azure waters and a glimpse over the mythical stones of Hercules’ victory over the Giants.
Lia, where we stop to swim, is a truly beautiful, organized, yet quiet, beach. But, of course, what goes down must come up; so the way back from Lia beach will give you bragging rights for your accomplishment in conquering this tour’s steep inclines.
Then we continue our ride through a single track among the fields, in order to visit a family church and discuss on the story behind all those tiny churches, typical of Mykonos’ landscape
WHAT TO EXPECT:
A taste of the real Greece...
- We start our cycling trips at our organic vineyard and farm “Mykonos Vioma” (check www.mykonosvioma.com).
- Dimitra's dad has run the farm for 30 years, he took it on as a ruin and has created the only biodynamic vineyard on Mykonos
- We are local guides, sharing our love for Mykonos and enthusiasm for cycling with our guests
- We'll fit you out with mountain bikes & helmets and provide or fill your water bottles before heading off (preparations and tutorial usually takes ~30minutes)
- We first cycle to the beach of Lia, where we have enough time for swimming & underwater photo shooting (weather permitting), before refreshing with homemade lemonade & a snack.
- We continue our ride through a single track and then we stop in a small church for a ~20 minutes interpretative talk on our local traditions, before ending our ride back at the vineyard.
- When we return, you might be hungry and, if you have time, you can have lunch with our farm-to-table & local Greek tapas, as well as taste our wines (not included in the bike tour fee), and take in the beautiful view.
- Finally, you may join a free tour of our vineyard (daily at fixed time) and of course play with or hand feed our farm animals.
NOTE:
The narrow roadway to Lia beach might be a bit busy during the peak summer season, so this tour isn’t appropriate for riders who do not feel confident on their bikes as cars pass by.
If you worry about the inclines, you may also consider the option of upgrading to an e-bike, i.e. a motor-assisted bicycle smoothening your pedalling and helping you conquer all terrain.
