Private beach & Monastery & Fokos beach tour

Level of difficulty: 4 / 5
Duration*: 6.5 hours
Riding time: 2.5 hour
Distance: 21 km (13 miles)
Price per person: 75€**

If the hilly inclines and longer distances don’t intimidate you, don’t miss the chance to feel like a native, as you discover Mykonos’ non touristic beaches and religious traditions.

This bike tour will take you both inland, at the village of Ano Mera with its famous monastery, as well as to coastal regions of the south and the north; it combines different places of interest and changing landscapes, from the whitewashed houses and private churches of Ano Mera to isolated beaches and hidden single tracks.

We first cycle down to a hidden cove for a pleasant swim among the scenic rocky hills, which justify the myth of Hercules’ fight with the Giants. After our swim, we first ride uphill on gravelly earth terrain for 100 meters and then on paved road, before entering a winding single track through the rural area of Ano Mera region.

The monastery of Virgin Mary Tourliani with its richly decorated iconostasis is worth the visit, before taking a break at the square of the village, the centre of all social and traditional events. We then continue cycling and coast relaxingly downhill as we head to Fokos beach. If you choose not to swim in its inviting blue waters, you can hike at the hillside and enjoy a magnificent view. Our encounter with this tour’s last uphills on our way back home might not be what you wished for after a long ride, but the unique images and rewarding feelings earned during this cycling adventure certainly make it worth experiencing it.

* Total duration including transportation - preparation - bike tour - beach break - relaxation/stretching

** Transfer from/to Mykonos town or the port is included. Additionally, during our beach break homemade muffins and lemonade will be offered and the underwater photos or videos will be sent free of charge
